an opportunity to shine

it’s time for fall

Over the past few months our world has been changing for the better one day and going backwards the next. I was very disappointed to hear that Pride house was cancelled at the London Olympics. When I look back at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver and the success of our Pride House, it must be noted yet again Canada does it first and well. I also read the Russian Government is not allowing Pride events so Russians are back to living in suppression. These news blasts continue to show us how lucky we are to live in Canada. Although we have a way to go we are still further ahead than any other country in the world when it comes to our freedom. Of course there will always be obstacles but none that we cannot overcome. With the first World Pride being presented in Toronto in 2014 – the first time ever in North America – and Pan Am Games in 2015, Canada has even more opportunities to shine to the LGBT and mainstream global market.

Now let’s talk about this issue of OUTVisions. Again we have tried to bring you varied stories. One in particular that should be of special interest is about finding support during maternity and child birth. Doula Beth Murch has been paving the way for transgender and same-sex couple to have the kind of childbirth experience they want.

Rainbow High Vacations has given our readers some excellent travel destinations in Quebec and Oregon USA and our feature story is about a person who has and continues to promote LGBT in the community of the Niagara region. We are very excited about our partnership with OUT in the county it’s all about the lifestyle in Prince Edward County, Ontario.

Our most exciting news is OUTVisions website which has become very popular. In just two months we have had over 3,000 page views and our top four destinations are Canada, US, UK, and Australia and it continues to grow. Thank you for visiting us!

In our next issue we will shine the spotlight on LGBT in sports. It seems to be a hot topic these days and with Pride House in London being cancelled, we are given even more reason to highlight key athletes and sports enthusiasts.

Thanks for reading; we will see you again in three months! Enjoy the beautiful autumn weather and be safe.
