Telling the story of a teenager’s sexual awakening, the film is actually based on the 2010 French graphic novel Blue Angel by Julie Maroh. Regardless of whether you’ve seen the film, books are almost always better.

Deconstructing an icon

Riot grrrl pioneer Kathleen Hanna’s life and legacy is explored in The Punk Singer, a documentary by Sini Anderson. Featuring commentary by Joan Jett, Carrie Brownstein, Kim Gordon, and Hanna herself, it’s an honest look at the life of the activist, musician, and cultural icon.
