making international headlines

Well this past summer the LGBT community made international headlines, some bad but many good. The ugliest is Russia who still defies the rest of the world in accepting gay rights. Yet not far away in the city of Antwerp, Belgium, Mr. Gay New Zealand won the Mr. Gay World 2013 title. Chris Olwage was chosen by seven judges from contestants from six nations, including Canada, making this an LGBT year to remember for this beautiful city. The Mr. Gay World contest followed on the heels of the 2013 World Outgames.

I mention all of the above because the national media doesn’t really report some of the great happenings around the world so we tend to forget there are some really positive influences taking place in many countries around the globe.

Here we are with another Fall issue crammed with interesting people, great Canadian travel destinations, the musical harmony of the Hamilton Gay Men’s Chorus and of course our cover story. Barb Snelgrove is an amazing person who has been an inspiration and a huge agent for change in the LGBT community and now will be inducted into Canada’s Queer Hall of Fame – well deserved Barb.

At OUTVisions we continue to strive to bring our readers interesting stories from Canada and around the world, up-to-date fashions and trends for Her and Him.

Chat again in the winter issue when our cover feature will be Blake Skjellerup, an Olympic speed skater who came out at the Pride House during the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, until then have a great Fall and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and Facebook.

Be proud, be happy and above all be safe this fall and don’t forget to always have a copy of OUTVisions by your side.
