Now is the time to start planning your summer vegetable garden. When it comes to embracing the local food movement, what could be more local than food grown in your own backyard? If you don’t have a backyard or an area suitable to grow, fret not – many communities across the country have community gardening programs that allow you to sharpen your green thumb alongside others. The bitterly cold winter we just experienced is more than enough reason to plan a lot of outdoor activities for when the warmer weather finally arrives. In Toronto, the Muddy York Rugby Team’s season gets underway May 1 and runs until April 30 the following year. It’s a progressive, all-inclusive rugby club in the GTA that provides the sport of rugby to the gay community and their friends. Most games are played May through September and practices head indoors from January through April. To join, visit www.muddyyork.ca for details.
