on the fringe

The end result is often a wide array of amazingly talented and unique performers. Did you know that Canada has more fringe festivals than any other country in the world? Happening on both coasts, and everywhere in between, there are many festivals to visit. Check out the Atlantic Fringe, now in its 23rd year. Taking place Aug. 29-Sept. 8 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the festival has grown every year since its 1991 debut. A full schedule of this year’s events can be found at

As the daylight hours start to diminish and a chill settles in the air, a night snuggled up on the couch seems much more inviting than in the heart of summer. Based on a memoir of the same name, the 13-episode show follows Piper Chapman, a thirty-something New Yorker who is sentenced to 15 months in prison for a decade old crime: transporting money for her drug dealing girlfriend. The audience watches as Piper attempts to navigates the world inside a minimum security facility - a world that includes her lesbian ex-girlfriend - while attempting to hold on to her life on the outside. Created by Jenji Kohan of Weeds fame. With all of the episodes available on Netflix, the hardest part about getting into this show will be trying to pace yourself.

iThe art of making the perfect mixtape has fallen by the wayside in recent years. Sure, there are playlists or mixed CDs but there was a certain level of dedication required for a mixtape. All of the fast forwarding and rewinding, not to mention the unique tape artwork. Whether an act of nostalgia or a way to demonstrate affection for someone, using a Mix Tape USBStick, with the proper mixtape style packaging is the perfect way to recapture your youth and tell someone how you really feel. You can even spend hours decorating the cover and creating your own liner notes.
